Default GFO Q's?!

Bob, do you have any recommendations for the most effective GFO to purchase? Dos and don'ts? I recently purchased a small amount of granular ferric oxide from BRS to help combate a small algae problem I am having with little success.

I know your first recommendation will be to purchase a good PO4 test kit, which I haven't yet, but is there a way to know when the GFO is exhausted with out testing?

My first batch I ran for 3 weeks and changed, this second batch is due to be changed after next weeks water change. Not even sure if this is a good idea, but I figure it's better than leaving it in for longer and having it leach into the tank.

Thanks for the links, that site is awesome Chelle! (Is that short for Michelle?)

Was looking for a bit more of a chemistry lesson however.
