    Is diatom "algae" one of the last stages of a new tank cycling?? Calling all people who have cycled many tanks

    Yup- usually the diatoms show up just before the end,or right after the end of the nitrogen cycle. There is still an ugly algea cycle, alot of times, after the diatom bloom.

    Sir, bite your tung!! We don't talk about that ugly algae when it comes to new tanks I've been secretly praying that it misses me. Diatoms no prob-anything green and I'll scream.
