Default Ph... what makes it change?

Ok, so anyone that knows me knows I don't test for anything (very bad don't do this at home ), but I picked up a controller that has a Ph probe so since I essentially paid for it I hooked it up.... well I have been somewhat looking at it and have noticed it has changed, typically maybe .05 at most throughout the day (that I have noticed, havent hooked it to comp so I dont have like a full read out of it)..... anyways even these small changes have got me wondering...

What causes Ph to change? Both naturally and through human intervention

I've noticed that when my PH is low, something is off with my alk, which is usually low as well. Than when i add alk it goes back up.

So if its running high alk is probably high?

My probe is reading that mine is at 8.63 right now... usually runs about 8.56-8.59 95% of the day, but I turned the sump and 30g online today

ya that, you might wanna make sure your probe is calibrated correctly.

Does it seem to be changing when the lights are on/off?

Yeah I gotta get some 4.0 solution I think... I have the 7.0 and 10.0 but didnt see any 4.0 It could be off some, but I dont think its to far off because it holds pretty steady.

it might hold pretty steady but calibration is to set it to the true PH, which if it wasn't calibrated correctly would give you the wrong reading.

i dont think there is any 4.0 solution but i could be wrong as its a different monitor.

I'm really not worried about it, just got me wondering what all makes it change

02 levels, and 02 levels fluctuate between dark and light periods.
