Can a stock solution be made with the buffer?
A few details of my tank, 65 L reef with mainly lps and only 2 fish.
I've been using the Reef Buffer for about 4 months now and its been keeping my PH constant at 8.3, whereas before it was about 7.2, but my main reason for using it was to boost my alkalinity whilst keeping my PH stable. Until recently i was only testing and dosing 2 times per week and was reading anywhere between 6 and 7.6dkh.
After reading where I should be with regard to Alk, Calcium and Mag I have just spent this last week checking twice per day to see how much I was loosing, I have been aiming for 9dkh and have now got my tank stable with just daily swings of about 1.4/1.7.
In the evenings I raise my alk to 9dkh and check again in the morning before work at about 7.15 where I am reading 8.2, checking again after arriving home at about 17.15 it is usually 7.3/7.6, I again raise to 9 over the next few hours and then repeat the checking process over the next 24 hours. At the same time my calcium is being raised in line with this aiming for 425pm where its not really needing much more than 6ml per day, magnesium is in the region of 1290/1320 on most days without really needing much adjustment.
My question is as above, can I make a stock solution from the Buffer instead of the Builder? Knowing that I need between 2.1/2.6 grams of Buffer per day mixed with 250ml ro water can I assume that I would need to mix 14.7/18.2 grams with 1750ml and dose it over 7 days using an auto dosing machine?
If anyone can help that would be great.
