Picked this piece up at Tropicorium over the weekend. Great visit. Great new piece of favia for the collection. Can't wait to see how this one colors up as well.
Awesome favia.
Hi my name is Larry and I'm a coral addict!
Kinda looks like an Acan Echinata - no?
If it is - careful! In my experience those are often as aggressive as the MOST aggressive Favias out there, although I've only had a couple echinatas.
Either way - great colors!
I have other acan echinatas in my tank, and am very familiar with there aggression, some zoas, colt coral, chalice, monti, acan lord, toadstool, are just some of my one echinatas victims. This is a favia, unless tropicorium is loosing its ability to classify coral species. Cherry corals just had these on there site not to long ago either, in the favia section.
I'd guess Acan e as well. One way to easily tell - set it close to an Acan e and you'll know quickly. Or the reverse if you've got a Favia you're not terrible fond of...Can you say mesenterial filaments?
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man. - George Bernard Shaw
How close? There's two favia less than an inch away, that have been there since I've had it. Or close as in touching each other? If it's not a favia I'd like to know. Especially since I've seen it for sale at more than one lfs as a favia.
