    Default colt coral attachment

I have had a colt coral tied to a rock for over 2 mths now and it hasn't attached. I just used the toothpick method to try it. I put the toothpick through the middle of the colt where the yarn had been. Is this wrong, should I have used one of the ends instead of the middle. There wasn't any polyps there as both ends have polyps coming out. I hope I didn't mess it up. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Sompa,

It took a couple of tries to get my colt to attach, too. I tried the toothpick thru the middle, I tried sewing it to a rock and neither of them worked. What I finally did was to sandwich it between two pieces of rubble and rubberband the whole thing together. It didn't look very pretty, and it still took a couple of months, but my colt is attached and beautiful now! Good luck.

I just throw them in my frag tanks and they attach to the rubble in a couple of weeks. I have also used tthe rubber band method with success

I stuck mine in the tiniest crevice of rock where I thought it would look good and left it alone. The key for mine was leaving it be and not checking on it! When you see growth, you know it took hold! My piece was the size of a fingernail. :D

I used the rocks and rubberband method on a xenia a while and it worked great. I recently had a colt coral frag too. I ended up using a zip tie to hold it attached to a piece of rock. I left it on there for a good month but it was attached after about a week. The frag had two main branch, so I put the zip tie between the them and tied it down pretty snug. I made sure I didn't cut it in half but that is firmly in place.

Angel hit the nail on the head... no matter what method you use... the key is to leave the darn critter alone! Not the easiest thing to do by far.... that colt she's talking about is now over 6" tall and standing proud :D
