I bought a pagoda coral(turbineria peltata) about 10 days ago. I put in the tank about 12" away from my duncan and now for the past 4-5 days the duncan isn't openinng up all the way. Could this be some type of chemical reaction
The only chemical issues I've had with pagoda coral a slimy coat that it sheds when exposed to air (happens during water changes). This shed material can negatively affect some corals if it lands on them. Many years ago it killed a fungia. The fungia reacted to the slime by basically melting to exposed skeleton. Sounds like your duncan is not responding that way, but I've never had a duncan so it's possible it would not react as strongly as my fungia did. Could the pagoda be blocking flow or light and that's bothering the duncan?
no light or flow issues, but I did do a water change the day before.I fed the duncan sunday while it was still looking bad and all the polpys ate, but it still looks rough today(tuesday)
I actually did that sunday and the duncan is looking rough. I will try to get home earlier
as bit seems the duncan expands in the morning and afternoon but shrivels up by 7-8 pm when the ph hits 8.4 In the morning the ph is around 7.9 or8.0
lighting hasn't changed and the lamp is only 3 months old. the duncan is still shriveled in the evening but looks better from 10- 3 it almost seems like it has too much light ? Yet it was fine for a year and and a half where it sits now
any new babies showing up on the under side..mine did that for awhile and i moveo find it to find 4 new babies growing on the back side to where i couldnt see them..i put it right back to where it was..
