Default Help me Decide.....Chalice Tank

With my wife leaving me my head has been all over the map. I am picking up the tank tomorrow and getting it on the stand and at least plumbed.

Livestock wise it is going to be tight for a while. I want to get the pyramids and a few other interesting fish. Coral wise I am torn. I want to really do a dedicated species tank and I love echinophyllia as much as acropora now.

I think the echino's may be a little easier to keep and not get aggravated as easily. The Acropora are way more sensetive plus come with the risk of all the pest.

I want to decide before I start moving on finalizing the lights. I actually just made up my own mind. I am going to do Echono's.

Are there any pest associated with them that anyone knows of???

I think your making a good choice going with chalices. I have been having troubles with my sps lately and I'm overall tired of having to micro manage the tank so much. Meanwhile my lps and nems are doing great. While I LOVE acros, I will be only adding in interesting chalice from here on out, or perhaps some of the neat new nems.

The chalice tank is a good choice. Very stress free and beautifull!

No clue on the pests....

I vote acros! Mostly because I am an addict and partly because everyone else has said chalices.

I need something to relax too that is not high maintenance. Just want to chill and enjoy.

i have heard of chalice eating starfish. a hitchhiker type that comes with live rock. I wish I had more details on them, from what I know you need a starfish eating shrimp to try to get rid of them. besides that chalices are great, kinda pricey but very nice non the less.

Mike, I've been getting into chalices more and more lately, you'll have to drive around the lake and come grab a freebie. Sent you a PM.
