Default Mobile zoas?

I know their not REALLY mobile, but I have a mixed colony of zoas that seem to be fleeing the plug they have been happily growing on for the past year. Is it possible that over-crowding has caused them to separate?

I would think thats exactly what is happening.

I don't know how they do it but I have some zoas that you can visibly see *stretching* from one rock to another, the same ones have also climbed the back wall. very cool looking

So, should I assist in the separation by cutting it apart? I already found one bunch of maybe 8-9 polyps floating free in the current. (Now safely glued down to a rock...)

I think I have read this wrong....they are detaching/releasing from the plug???

What do these polyps look like?

They're zoas. It started as a mixed colony of perhaps 12 polyps. Over the past year, it has grown to many dozens. Individually, they look today exactly as they have looked for more than a year now... But, collectively, they seem to be fleeing the scene.

And of course, since I just got up to get the camera out, the lights turned off for the night. Maybe there is a picture to be taken tomorrow.

Looking forward to the pics.

Have you added any new zoas recently? Do you dip all new additions?

I finally found these pics of my traveling zoa's. As you can see there's a rather large gap between the lr and the wall. I have no idea how they did it but they did. Same with the lr next to em, did the stretch too.
