yea not a good idea i found my self doing the same thing when i did my upgrade and lost a few nice corals to my lazzyness

Agreed....I will add, are their any changes in your tank? New lights or bulbs?, new flow?, new livestock? Have you noticed it feeding? It almost looks like it was stung by another coral to me. As SP said I would keep a close eye on it and even throw in some carbon if you don't have any going now.

Thats a sign of the following:

Coral Sting
High water flow
High light
Not enough feeding ( I dont think this is the problem in this case because its not starting in multiple locations)

I was thinking maybe its a damaged spot, possibly from a fish, like the fire fish, perching on it?

Process of elimination here=no new lights-nothing near it-very seldom do I see it's sweepers but it must be eating, it's grown big time-I dose nothing.

It may be flow but it's not continuous-bad husbandry big possibility. The spot faces front of the tank. It's also possible I did it while probing around with my wooden spoon, ahdah :/

It's been my experience that favia's like alittle shade,not really big lite lovers.I'd move it to the outside edge of your tank and see if it doesn't perk up.Also try not to poke at it with your spoon also lol
