Default unique feeding method

While at VI Pets yesterday, I observed a unique way of feeding a reef. While waiting for someone to help me with some FW stuff, I watched the owner feed their display reef tank.

He took some some wet, unfrozen either mysis (or something that looked very similar), & stuck it to his dry forefinger. He then inserted his finger into the water for a few seconds, get the fish to understand that he was about to feed.

After taking his finger out of the water, the fish then realized & scented the food he had in the water before....most of them came up to the surface, & he then put his finger back in, while pushing it off with another finger. Barely any food made it to the substrate, & every fish I saw in the tank got some food for the most part.

I thought it was a pretty awesome & original way to ensure that there wasn't any leftover food laying on the substrate. Granted CUCs can eat leftover food, but as we all know...it doesn't always happen....thus leaving excess waste that shouldn't be in the tank.

Just thought I'd pass that along...

I used to do this with my koi when they were smaller. Now they are too big and feeding time is crazy with them lol. Salt tanks I do it sometimes.

Yes, Plainfied store. You should ask him to do it for you, it was pretty interesting as most of the fish came up to the top simultaneously.
