Default Who's eating who?

This is the second time I've been able to witness this behavior and still I'm dumbfounded. The first time it was with my Christmas Tree Favia and last night it was with my Rainbow Acan (no longer rainbow colored)

At first I thought they were actually eating the bristle worm. However last night I watched the entire exchange and still am clueless as to what is happening. The bristle worm appears like it's being eaten but then slowly the acan released it and it slowly tumbled to the sand bed. Showing very little movement for a bristle worm. This morning it was gone. Whether dead or not I can't say.

it probably spit it back up because it was either to big, or the bristles made it uncomfortable to eat, and the bristle worm just scurried away.

how does the worm get into the acan to begin with?

also, have you been directly feeding this acan (maybe causing the bristle worm to want to find some yummies)

I've thought of that but no I haven't been feeding the acan. Nor was I feeding the Favia the first time I saw this.

so the worm crawls up out of its hiding place, into the mouth of an acan and then gets spit out? that seems very weird.
