    It is our pleasure to announce the Captive Reefing Tank of The Month for May 2005, congratulations are extended to Davejnz for his 40 Gal LPS Reef tank!

    Here is a few comments from the judges.

    Repto: "I'm really impressed with both of his tanks... his LPS has some amazing LPS growth, nice coloring and arrangement, and some serious coralline growth. Nice job!!!"

    Tileman: "I've got to go with davejnz this month."

    Bugzme: "I've liked davids tanks since I was a judge! I'm glad he finally got it."


    A little info about his tank:
    Tank Size-40 gal
    Age-1.5yrs
    Tank Focus-LPS corals
    Lighting-2x95wVHO(URI act,URI act white)2x39wT5(G.E.6.5k,ATI blue+)driven by IC660
    Filtration-35lbs fiji LR,3-4" DSB
    Equipment-berlin skimmer,MAG 7 return,4 PH for internal circulation
    Fish-pair of Tomato Clowns(female I've had for 3yrs),Sunrise Dottyback
    Corals-Acanthastrea echinata,A.lordhowensis,Blastomussa wellsi,Caulastrea sp.
    Echinopora sp.,Echinophyllia sp.Euphyllia parancora(green w/pink tips)
    E.parancora(pink w/green),E.paradivisa,E.paradivisaE.glabrescens,Favi ites sp.
    Lobophyllia sp.,Platygyra sp.,Symphylla sp.,Trachyphyllia geoffroyi,Acropora sp., Turbinaria peltata and Pavona cactus.
    Inverts-astrea snails,mexican turbo snails,cerith snails,fighting conch,blue legged hermits
    peppermint shrimp,brittle stars
    Maintenance-waterchanges monthly,baking soda and calcium chloride bi-weekly,
    kalk is gravity fed to a float-valve in sump
    Feeding-fish are fed daily,LPS are fed twice a week mysis or chopped seafood
    Favorite inhabitants-clownfish(the female is very aggressive and bites me all the time
    Problems I've Overcome-tank was pretty much problem free during the first yr but lately
    I've been battling cyano on a section of the SB
    suggestions-?
    Whats Next?-a bigger tank(probably a 75)
