Gateway to rec.aquaria.marine.reefs newsgroup

New Feature just added. We are proud to announce yet another really cool feature (yet another cutting edge feature exclusive to CR), a new forum has been added called rec.aquaria.marine.reefs, this is a 'bi-directional gateway' to that particular UseNet Newsgroup, every 30 minutes the CR server will poll the newsgroup for new messages and bring them to CR as posts. Posts brought down from UseNet will appear from 'anonymous' to identify where they came from.

No more huge downloads of headers and messing around trying to configure your news clients and finding the servers scanning for good info.

For those not familiar with newsgroups, it may look a little strange as some of the posts may skip topics and be placed in odd threads but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Oh yeah can't forget the really cool part, thanks to a little magic I sprinkled in the mix, any time a member creates a new thread, post, or reply in that forum (Only that forum) they will automagically be posted on the newsgroup at the same time new posts are brought down, of course with your signature and a Tagline pointing back to CR

In all it should prove to be another valuable asset to all.

Note: If you frequent newgroups and have found others that may prove useful just let me know and I can add that to the forums as well.

The essence of it is that CR is a GUEST of the Newsgroup.

BTW the 'newsgroup' is basically a worldwide mailing list, not neccessarrily a site of any sort, though with a bit of magic we've been able to incorporate it into CR. There are a few more good pretty good ones out there, that I may add later, but this one in particular are where some of the more well known reefers hang around so there is often some good info passing through.

Not sure I didn't really read it through, I just saw something about them being guests on CR and the timestamp caught my eye, I knew I had a 45 second window before the next mail run was scheduled to go so I quickly deleted it. Hope I caught it in time. I'll have to check the newsgroup later when I can switch networks to get out there.... Can't do it from work.

Gotta look at it from both sides... everywhere else on CR it is 'our' site, but posts in that particular forum CR is members are the *guests* of the newsgroup.
