Default Creepy Photo Contest - sponsored by SaltCreeps

This month's topic is Creepy...time to get in the Halloween spirit and post some pics of your creepy crawly inverts. . Enter your creepy photo and have a chance to win a prize pack from SaltCreeps.

We are featuring our new Invert Index forum which is similar to the Coral Collector and Fish Finder and is designed to allow members to show off their livestock and also research new livestock.

To enter you will need to add your creepy invert entries to the Invert Index . You may enter as many creepy inverts as you would like this month to increase your chances...however only one entry per species.

Be sure to select the Creepy Photo from the drop down when you add your entries Invert Index Forum. When you create the threads in Invert Index you must also complete the thread fields to the best of your knowledge. Completion of the fields will be taken into accounts when choosing the finalists.

Here is a link that will show you all of the entries in this contest: Creepy Photo Entires

If you want a little more information on how to add your corals to the Invert Index forum, here is a tuturial.

This month's prize includes 24 inch feeding stick, 12 inch feeding stick and 50 Skwooshy plugs from SaltCreeps.

In addition, the winner will have a golden camera award placed in his or her postbit and will be featured on the CR header or side column. The winner will also serve as a judge for the next two photo contests.

The last day to submit photos is October 31, 2011.

    Rules

    1. Photos must be uploaded to either the Invert Index Forum.
    2. You can multiple times, but only one time per species
    3. The photo must be your own.
    4. Try to submit a photo that is at least 640x480 resolution. **
    5. The previous two (2) POTM winners are ineligible to win.

*Submitting a photo entry is acknowledgment that it may be modified and used for future site graphics on CR with credit given to the owner.
**Please retain higher resolution versions of your photos. We may need a higher resolution shot to make them work with the site graphics after the contest.

    Selection of the Winning Photo

Based on the number of entries submitted, a number of semi-finalists (10% of the entries will be semi-finalists) will be selected by jimsflies and the previous two POTM winners. Semi-finalists will be posted for the general membership to vote on their favorite. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be reposted for a tie breaking vote with the general membership. Should we receive 10 or less entries, the judging panel will decide the winner. Photos will be judged on topic, composition, and quality.

If you have a creepy fish...sure you can enter a fish. Same goes for coral. Be sure to select Creepy Photo from the drop down when you post your entries.

Well, my thought was the creepiest critters are likely going to be inverts. But photos of corals and fish will also be accepted for this contest. Both photo quality and capturing the topic are considered when judges determine the finalists which are put up for a general membership vote. (I recommend members also consider them when casting their votes as well.)

I would also like to stress for entries to be uploaded to the thread in the invert, fish and coral showcase forums. I notice a lot of folks are not attaching the photo, but instead using the IMG tag to display it. The photos MUST be attached to the post. If you haven't attached it you will see a yellow box with a warning about adding your photo.

If you are confused about what I am asking, please check out this tutorial.

    Thanks!
