Happy Holidays from CaptiveReefs! Lets get some colorful holiday cheer going with the Showcase forums and enter to win our Holiday Photo Contest! (When you post in the Showcase forums your photo will display on the homepage slideshow and Showcase tabs.) You can enter any coral, fish, or invert that you feel captures the holiday spirit.


To enter you will need to add your photo entry to the applicable CR Showcase forum:
Coral Collector Forum
Fish Finder Forum
Invert Index

Be sure to select the Deck the Halls from the drop down when you start your thread. When you enter your photo in one of the above forums, you must also complete the thread fields to the best of your knowledge. Completion of the fields will be taken into accounts when choosing the finalists.

If you want a little more information on how to add your corals to one of the showcase forums, here is a tutorial.

This month's prize is a Frag Shelf donated by The Alternative Reef

This is one of the awesome shelves with holes in it for frag plugs...the first time we have given one of these away here on CR.

In addition, the winner will have a golden camera award placed in his or her postbit and will be featured on the CR. The winner will also serve as a judge for the next two photo contests.

The last day to submit photos is December 20, 2012.

Rules

1. Photos must be uploaded to one of the showcase forums (Coral Collector, Fish Finder. Invert Index)
2. You can multiple times, but only one time per species
3. The photo must be your own.
4. Try to submit a photo that is at least 640x480 resolution. **
5. The previous four (4) POTM winners are ineligible to win (but encouraged to share some pics).

*Submitting a photo entry is acknowledgment that it may be modified and used for future site graphics on CR with credit given to the owner.
**Please retain higher resolution versions of your photos. We may need a higher resolution shot to make them work with the site graphics after the contest.

Selection of the Winning Photo

This month we are going to streamline the selection of the winning photo. It will be selected by jimsflies and the previous two POTM winners. Photos will be judged on topic, composition, and quality.

As far as I know the holidays happen each year. There must be a few new red or green sea creatures to be shared.

Although this year,the prize is an even nicer frag shelf from The Alternative Reef.

You are correct. This is the same contest as last year. Last time I recall the winning photo had nothing to do with the holidays... which irked me. So, hopefully this year the winner will have something to do with the holidays!
