Referral Contest!!!!

We have quite a few new folks here on the forum. I thought it would be nice to give you an incentive invite some of your reefing buddies to join us. Lets see if we can get a few more peeps to share the site and our love for reefing!

The Alternative Reef has donated a large magnetic frag shelf to the cause. The reefer with the most verified referrals in this contest will be the lucky winner of this frag shelf. The retail value of this prize is $97! It is large...about a foot long in total. Here are some pics:

Contest Rules
1. The contest runs from now until January 4, 2011 @ midnight EST.
2. For a referral to count, the new member must confirm their account and post at least once.

We will keep track of the referrals using this link which has everyone's referrals set to zero from today....this is also accessed via the Member Tools menu item in the navbar:

There is also a invitation tool on the Member Tool menu item on the navbar. Unfortunately, facebook is not working, but you can use it to invite members from your email and other social networks.

Although I am getting a little low, I do have more cards like I was handing out at the swap. I also have some regular business cards that you can put your name on to give to someone you might strike up a conversation with at your LFS. Anyone that thingk they could use some of these, send me a pm with your mailing info and I will mail you some.

Also if you find yourself helping someone on another forum, you can always shoot them a pm or email regarding CR. After you have answered a few questions or bought/sold something from someone, it is not spamming to invite them to another forum. Just to be clear though, if you just send out a bunch of notes, you will likely get in trouble/banned from other forums. Its important (and more effective) if you have a relationship (i.e., helped the person out) with them before sending the invitation.

In an effort to increase activity in our selling forums, I have invited some craigslist listers to check us out. I know a lot of people use that site for aquarium related stuff and would have better luck with a more targeted audience. You could always try that too.

If you click on the Referral Stats Link, you will be provided a referral link that you can send someone so that if they click on it, the referral credit goes to you.

Just a friendly reminder about the referral contest. Right now I think we have a few guys with 1 referral so the contest is wide open! (My referrals don't count toward the contest even though they are on the list.)
