I recently acquired a used Tunze 6091 wave controller to use with my controllable nanostream (6055). I wasn't able to get the "wave" I wanted with the just the pump and controller, so I decided to build a box for it. There's already a long thread on RC about building the full size wavebox so used that as my template. The main things I changed was the size and I used aquarium silicone rather than weldon.
As you can see in the video there is about a 1/2 inch wave. The corals closest to the box move the most but even the mantle on the T. derasa sways back and forth a little. There is probably still a little more fine tuning to be done (e.g. painting it black) but over all I'm pretty pleased.
While adjusting the timing on the wave controller this evening I achieved a much bigger wave! The problem is that it caused the cr@ppy metal stand to sway a 1/16 of an inch. Needless to say I turned the wave down and am now thinking about building a sturdier wooden stand, which I wasn't planning to do as this is a temporary (3-5 year) tank.
