Default The Right Fan for the Job

I am looking at upgrading to MH lighting so I will be building a new hood. Does any one have a good suggestions on which fans to use in the hood. I would like them to be very quiet and move a decent amount of air. I don't care if they are AC or DC and I am open on the size. Any suggestions on mounting them for best performance would be appreciated too.

I use 4'' 120 volt fans from radio shake i put them on a variable resister and
run at about 2/3 speed that makes them nice and quiet
