    Default Help! (DIY STAND ?'s)

Alright, this is directed to all of you DIY stand people...

I've been working on my stand for the past few weeks, and am just about ready to put the door on it. But, first I need a door! My question to you all is... How do you all usualy make your stand doors? I don't have a router tool, but I've got just about everything else, I can get router if I have to, but I'd like to avoid it if I could. Any tips would be appreaciated, thanks!

By the way, here's a pic of what I have so far:

    Back View

If you'll notice on this 2nd pic, looking in from the back, there's a lip of about 3/4" stick out off of the 2x4 frame. I did this to better hide the frame pieces.

Also, I've sence added the bottom and a piece of baseboard trim work on the bottom front that will be continued around both sides on the bottom. I also have trim to go around the top and sides on the top.

I think that square edges would look fine if they where straight and nicely sanded. maby just take tohe edge off with sandpaper!

    Hi,
Are you planning on using plywood for the door?
You can get molding to use as trim to dress it up.

Definately easy to sneal through using plywood and molding. If you are going to paint it then there is less 'cleaning up' needed.

Here's a thread detailing stand construction and the same method for the doors.

At the hardvare store they should also have a wood strip (it comes in a rool it is very thin real wood) all you do is cut to length, iron it on and trim the sides down with a razor. It would look very nice if you used an nice peice of plywood and this striping! I forget what it is called but I will try to find it online and give you a link. Or you could call a local cabinet makeing shop and they always have this stuff around.
