Default Need help on plastic tub for sump

    Hi All,

I am going to swapping out tanks soon and I want to upgrade my sump/refugium at the same time. I seriously considering using a plastic storage tub instead of a glass aquarium for the new sump. I have a couple questions hopefully folks can chime in on:

    1. Any problems with using a Rubbermaid clear tub?

    2. What do you use to glue in the baffles? Silicon?

    3. Any good design tips or considerations would be a appreciated.

I use a rubbermaid sump and have never had any problems with it. The sump in side of a sump inside of a sump is a terrific idea!!!
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

Our's is just a holding space for our skimmer ect... We have had a smaller tub inside with holes for flow cut in it and then some rock and egg crate for things like the blue matting stuff and algea pads of charcoal. We even tried to grow some calurpea but that didn't go well.. Right now ours is just a tub.. lol
If you figure out how to make an actual sump with baffles ect that would be interesting..
somewhere I have a picture of the monster behind the tank.. lol I'll have to look!

Jason, what kind of tubs are you using and how long have they been up and running. Ramoth mentioned she has had problems with leaks developing over time, which is something I would really like to avoid.
