    Default sealing a tank

    could i use regular non toxic silicone sealent from the hard ware store in a tank or should i use the stuff that the pet stores sell?

    make sure its non toxic, I would just get tank sealant, that way you dont have to take a chance in it.

    You can use regular hardware store silicone if you want.... GE Type I or II is safe and works well (same thing as "Aquarium Sealant" minus the price tag), just be sure it is not labeled *mildew resistant* or *anti-mildewing* as they have some chemicals in it that you do not want in your tank.

    I have used GE type 2 in a sump with out a problem. And a lot cheaper
    for the same thing.
