looking to build a sump using 1/4 acrylic and was wandering if anyone on here has an idea of how stong 1/4 really is....the sump will measure 48x12x24 with the largest water section being 15x12x15... going to have a top on it and many baffles to seperate filter sox, skimmer, fuge, qt, then heat/cool return. question is being that there are so many baffles will 1/4 work or should i use 3/8?
I can't answer exactly how strong the 1/4" is, but with that many baffles, and the largest section being only 15" long, I would use 1/4" myself, 3/8 adds weight and cost for no benefit.
I think 1/4 inch would definitely do just fine. i know this is a little smaller than what you are looking for...but for comparison sake, I think it is pretty close and it's made out of 1/4 acrylic
thats close...i looked and looked and didnt see that one there though, these units are salty thats why im building one, just getting used to this site gonna post few pics of the sump/fuge, also have an aquarium room build going on at the moment gonna share few pics if it too, but where?
