Default Diy frag plugs

well I promised I would post this these are the same plugs I am selling in the selling forum

first I went to lowes or hd and purchased some tile mortar the stuff used for setting it not the grout 50lb bag for $10 makes tons of plugs

I also bought some hard nylon 3/8" tubing for the posts

first I take the tubing and cut it in aprox 1" pieces and set aside

then I take some ro water and mix the tile mortar to a thick but pourable consistency mainly I want it as thick as possible so I can scoop a spoon full out and dump it with just a little bit stuck to the spoon

next I have some mini muffin pans that I spray with common cooking spray and start pouring the mortar into them about 1/4" to 1/2" thick let sit for about 10 to 20 min

after sitting to set up a little usually 10 to 20 min the mixture is setting up anough to hold the pieces of tubing strait without falling over this is trial and error process to figure out exact time for each batch

then let sit for at least one day once tubing is inserted to cure to hard and be able to hold shape when removed form the pan/mold

let cure for another 2 days till completely dry then they are ready for immediate use or secondary water curing if you like

I never had any issues with ph using them strait up and nor has anyone else I know of that use these

I have dropped over 100 of these in my sump with no issue

Nice. Simple and effective. Thank you for sharing.

However, I'm not a fan of plugs. Would you see any issue with adding some aragonite and/or shells to these to add texture and create rubble?
