Default New lighting project

I want to build a custom canopy for my 125.

this being my first time i am going to look for alot of help.

i dont know anyone in this forum but i am hoping that i have come to the right place.

i am a carpenter by trade so i guess that makes me somewhat up to the challange.

i am looking to have 3 250w mh with t-5 actinic sumplimentation.

below is a pic of my current canopy which i am hoping to modify into a new one.

a listof parts andtools would be great along with schematic.

Any help is appretiated

I would try to reuse the top and bottom trim from that canopy and add a taller section in between them as you will want some space between the halides and water surface.

Is it possible to built on top of it or would that be to far from the water surface? it about 8" tall

You could build on top of it I would assume. I just figured it would look nicer the other way. You will want about 8 inches in between the bulb and water and then it wouldn't hurt to have some space above the halides for heat to rise and to install fans to push it away.
