Default Space for bubble trap

OK, Today I'm building my sump and I would like to know how much space most of you put between the baffles on the bubble trap.

Thanks,

1" between the baffles is probably the norm.A small plastic container with holes drilled in it can be used as a crash chamber. If you have a small strainer that would work to.

I've found that the more flow through the trap the more spacing between the baffles is needed to allow the bubbles to escape. I'm finding that 1/2" spacing with flow at 400gph is not enough and microbubbles are making it through. 1" would have been better.

Thanks for the help, one inch it shall be.

davejnz, what do you mean by crash container? Is this where the water from the display tank comes into the sump? If so what function does it help with?

Yeah,It has 2 purposes that i use it for.1 is to just break up the hard flow of water coming into the sump. The other is it makes a pretty good place to put a media bag(carbon) in.
