Does it have a back filtration area for equipment, etc?

Yes, If you can see in the picture there is a back filtration are (the black bit in the center). I used a large return pump, a reactor pump, 2 red mangroves, 2 layers of filter pad, chemi pure and purigen running in the back. Return pump comes up to the top center with 2 loc line arms on the end.
