Default Weird ocean current may create coral refuges

Global warming is expected to have devastating effects on coral reefs, but recent research points to a few exceptions.

Warming in the equatorial Pacific may actually create refuges for corals around a handful of islands, even as it bleaches, or kills, corals elsewhere, suggests new research that predicts increased upwelling of cold, nutrient-rich water in these places.

"These little islands in the middle of the ocean can counteract global trends and have a big impact on their own future, which I think is a beautiful concept," said study researcher Kristopher Karnauskas, a Woods Hole Oceangraphic Institution scientist, in a press release issued by the institution."

That sure is a loaded question, Chris. Some of the sceintific community believes it while others do not.

Not being a sceintist myself, only an observer, I question if "global warming" in the sense that it is typically conveyed is in fact true. Rather I think that the warming of the climate is part of a cyclical process tat has been proven to occur over millennia. This is af fact that has been proven by the study of earth and ice cores and the data collected from same.

"Global warming" as buzz terminology sells. It has been propagated in politics for years, primarily by the puppets of George Soros, as being some horrible catastrophe created solely by man. I have a difficult time believing that.

Now, related to Jim's post, thank you for sharing that. It shows how fantastic our earth is and how it's creatures can evolve and adapt to different conditions. This new growth in new locations ins rather astounding. Thanks again for sharing it, Jim.
