Awards Tank of the Year - CaptiveReefs' 2011 Tank of the Year! Tank of the Month

    Default Daddybiggs' Mixed Reef

I would like to thank everyone at Captive Reefs for picking my tank as a TOTM. Its a little humbling when I see the other awesome tanks that have been featured. Its been a great run and I have met some great people and made some great friends. Hope to meet many more of you at the Flint Swap.

Many of my corals originated in a 12-gallon Nanocube that I purchased in 2004. My upgrades have includes a 55-gallon Clarity hex tank. Then I upgraded to a 100-gallon (48x24x20h) tank. I moved up to the current tank which is a 180-gallon last year. This tank was a gift from Dr. Almansour (the owner of @Reef Paradise ). Thanks Doc! This is hopefully last tank I set up as I am very happy with the size of it.

    Equipment and Maintenance

Lighting: (6) T-5 ATI bulbs overdriven using Ice Cap ballast, 4 blue+,1aqua blue special,1 fiji purple
Flow: (2) Vortech MP-40's (1) Tunze 6045 for random flow changes
Equipment: MSX-250 skimmer/w dual sicce pumps
    Geo kalk reactor
Geo 618 media /pellet reactor using Warner marine pellets
    Schuran pico calcium reactor

For routine maintenance, I perform a 20-gallon water change every seven to 10 days. Whenever I perform a water change, I add a couple drops of Lugols iodine. I also dose magnesium using an antiquated kent marine dosing pump.

Putting together a Tank of the Month article and photos takes a lot of work, and as appreciation for Dale's efforts, he received a $25 gift certificate from Amazon Stingrays. Thanks Dale for sharing your tank with us and thank Amazon Stingrays for your support!

Dale the tank looks sweet on the totm forum. Only issue is that the tank looks even better in person. Lol. In pictures you can not get a good since of the complete set up. But either way the pics are awesome and congrats on totm for this month. I am glad to be sharing the table with you at the swap. .
