They are reef safe...I had one for a brief period. IME they don't hold up well to high flows. I had one in my 50 gallon and I think the flow in there wore it down. But my 50 had two Eheim 1262's and an MP-20 moving water.

Nope not hard at all I've kept Mollys in brackish in the past.
