    Additional Information & Description

A very active and colorful fish. The anthias will stay out in the water column most times but does appreciate rockwork to escape in as the need arises. It is best to keep a single male or a harem, consisting of a male to several females, if your tank is big enough.

Anthias are hermaphroditic so when purchasing a harem I recommend purchasing all females and letting the group dictate dominance unless you are buying an established harem.

As with most anthias the lyretail is a carnivore but does/will feed on algae as well. While they can be stubborn about eating when first introduced in the aquarium, patience and diligence seem to win out most times. Mysis or enriched brine shrimp added in the water column will as a rule trigger a feeding response, if not immediately, within a reasonable amount of time. Small feedings several times a day seems to be the norm for the lyretail.
