    Default ATO, RO/DI resivoir issues.

Currently, I've got some issues with the TDS rising on my RO/DI and ATO resivoirs... Out of the RO/DI unit, I'm getting readings of zero. But in my resivoirs I'm getting readings in the low 20's. I'm afraid this could be a factor in my new cyano bloom, and fear it could cause other issues down the road...

I'm currently using 30g colored rubbermaid containers for both (with lids).

First of all, should I be concerned; and if so, what sugguestions do you all have to correct this?

I suggest cleaning both tubs with a 10:1 water:bleach solution then letting the tubs air dry and then try again.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

You can use Tap Water. The chlorine or chloramine etc. will evaporate away when sitting. Rep-To-Mon is right... his guidance is "right on". After some time, even in RO/DI water, a film will begin to form on the container.

Also, ensure that your reservior is air tight. RO/DI water, by nature, wants to 'bond' with something to become more stable. If the container is not air tight, the water will become a dust/smoke/whatever magnet.

okay. So, would you sugguest getting a new container that is air-tight? if so, what do you reccommend?... I've thought about using some weather-stripping to put around it to help keep it that way....

You dont need a new container , everyone before me is right you just have to clean it every 2 months or so. I never really checked mine because it is in a closet under the stairs and recieves no light until I believe Dakar saiid something about his top off water had mor nitrates than what he was replacing. I looked into my rubbermaid 36 gal. tank and the bottom was covered with slime .

Just clean it well, let it dry out and be exposed to air for 24 hours (outdoors preferably) and it is ready to go again. You might rinse it once more before you use it, if you feel paranoid.

No need for a new container... just *giggle* keep a lid on it I may have used the wrong verbiage.. because..acutally, if it were truly "air tight", and you were using a gravity feed/siphon process, airtight would cause a vacuum of sorts and would slow or stop the feed.

Just try to keep the res dust free and clean it from time to time.
