    Default Canopy questions...

For 2 double bulb retro fit lights I need a canopy....is the canopy
just something that covers the light? Or does it actually hold the
lights? So in other words, are the lights placed on the top of the tank
or are they placed on the inside or hung from the canopy?

Usually the fixtures are hung in the canopy itself, picture a box that sits on and covers the entire top of your tank, put a hinged door on the front to gain access to the tank for maintenance, feeding, etc...

Temporary Hijacking... Tileman I like the idea of the open top for heat to escape, any troubles with the fans bringing debris in?

No, I haven't had any problems so far, I do have to clean the fans every now and then from all the dust that collects on them. The open top and back is great for keeping the heat out, even this summer with temps hitting 100 degrees my tank only reaches 80. But my central air works overtime also.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Since that picture, I have added two T-5 39 w retro lights, I run 20k bulbs in my halides , so I added the T-5's with 10k bulbs to suppliment the 20k halides and to promote better growth.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG alt="image file name: 2k237c9d16eb.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2k237c9d16eb.jpg" border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

hahaha now that's a change... having to suplement the halides with whiter light to compensate for too much blue..

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#You got it.. I still get great color in my corals , but my growth is still not quite what I want it to be, but seeing that my tank is so full right now , I dont need heavy growth.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG alt="image file name: 2k847937e60a.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2k847937e60a.jpg" border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
