Been thinking about doing a diy projector, so I bought some leds.
I don't have the monitor or lens or anything yet, just the leds and meanwell psu's.
(thinking about waiting for the 3d without glasses type and trying that if it's possible)
The leds get real hot, like a tec unit would.
I tried using the amd stock quad pipe heatsink as a test with fan, and it overheats under a min, I mean it burning hot.
I see others are using the corsair h60 for this but that's alot more expensive that I planned on.
I thought about diy water cooling but that's either more expensive, or I need access to a mill (I do, but not sure what it would cost me to get blocks made).
All the down facing 120mm or any 120mm heatsink seems priced up there along with the h60 anyways.
I'm wondering what the heck I should do about this heat prob.
Think of it like a 9a 15.4v tec, enough cooling and it won't get hot at all, but not enough and it's overheats real fast.
Prob is I wasn't expecting it to be like this with high powered leds.
Forgot to mention the type of stuff they are passing off to use with these leds.
The above link is the best one I've seen so far.
It's way over priced I know.
That heatsink above couldn't be any better then the stock quad pipe amd sink could it?
