Default Help me Decide please!!!!!!!!

I want to get the skimmer for my 125 gallon ordered. The problem is I have not had a tank this small (no offense to anyone) in a long time. My eye is always drawn to something rated for a 300 gallon heavy Bio-Load.

I have decided that the SWC line will meet my needs without breaking the bank.

I am looking at two models (both are cones)

The newly designed 230
And the 180

The draw to the 230 is the askoll pump.
The 180 I am guessing would probably do the job too.

I only plan of 3 pyramids plus some other smaller fish. Nothing that is going to produce serious waste. I have the Denitrator that I will run as well.

I still need to buy:
BRS dosing pump 299.00
1 Vortech
controller

Please give honest and rational advice. I am not always thinking clearly right now so some levity is appreciated.

Mike

What is the difference in cost? If not too great, I would probably get the one rated for higher gallons. You never know when you set up another big tank or add a bunch of fish. You might be one good looking porky puffer or trigger away from an upgrade from smaller skimmer lol. Just my 2 cents worth,

Ya mike i agree. Go with the bigger skimmer. Can't hurt. I have a skimmer rated for a light bio load for a 350g tank on my 90g tank.

SWC make great skimmers.

What is cost of smaller one? If it is over 300(im sure it probably is) then I myself would pay extra without hesitation. Would suck to pay 300 dollars for something that I would have to replace in a few years. Then you would be be paying 700 (barring inflation because that does not happen lol) for something you could have gotten for 400.

Good news Mike - I found an extra $200 to put toward your skimmer selection. The BRS dosing pump is only $99

I think he was looking at the Bubble Magus 4 pump unit. Correct?

I just picked up the reef octopus in-80 and i must tell you how impressed i am with it!! its SUPER quiet, i've had it less than a week and its pulling crud like mad. I am going to pick up another for my 60 cube tomorrow. GREAT skimmer! and not bad price wise.
