    Default Help noisey return pump!!!

I have recently purchased and am setting up my 125 R/R tank. I have decided to go with along with some recommendation from my LFS the - Pro clear 200 wet / dry, the aqua cev-120 skimmer and what my LFS recommended because it is so quite the Little Giant 5-MD-SC in line return pump . Will after I got it all plumbed in and turned it on the pump is so load that I cannot run it. My wife will not put up with it . I have it in a oak stand sitting on vibration isolation pads and from what I can tell it is all motor noise. .

I like the idea of a single pump system with a manifold however I cannot put up with the noise that it puts out. At this point I am stuck dead in the water no pun intended.
Has anybody had any experience with this pump :?: is there something wrong with it :?:
Or does anybody have any suggestions :?:

It could possibly have an air bubble trapped inside it. Try turning the pump on and off a couple to see is you can knock it loose.

I thought I had a noise rating chart in db's for most pumps, of course because I'm looking for it I can't find it (should have posted it to the board right away) but thought that series was in the 30db range or so, a bit on the loud side, but it shouldn't be THAT loud, most of the noise should be from the water and impeller.

Can you be a bit more descriptive about the noise? Mechanical metal on metal, vibrating...etc
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.
