I'm interested in growth and color using LEDs over time with various coral types....hopefully we have some members that can share a few photos documenting how their corals are doing.
If you made the switch to LEDs and have info to share about certain corals not doing well, I would like to see pics or hear your experience as well.
I haven't had anything do poorly since I switched.. not due to the lighting anyway, only to my poor husbandry while I had the inability to properly take care of my water parameters... also due to this the growth under LEDs has not been as good as it could have been.
Now that Im back on the wagon I'll keep notes on growth for this.
My acros have done just great since switching over to LEDs. My green slimer and Bonsai "frags" are now pretty large! Other arco frags have also done very well, even the slow growing torts.
Detroit's oldest large LED tank! Est'd Jan 2005, went LED June 2009. 6' wide 130g reef, Sunbrite T10 LED tubes (3xGen 3 and 1xGen 1), mostly SPS, but chalices, other LPS, and a few softies too. http://pjr-reef.blogspot.com/
Here is the most consideral growth I have noticed. My miami hurricane chalice had 5 eyes in July. In mid August it had 21 eyes under LEDs. The same chalice frag under my T5s has only about a dozen eyes. Marks (nanonewbie) also had the same 1 eye frag (when we got it in march/I got 2)...his has less than a dozen under MH and is smaller than both my frags.
My sps is growing pretty well, my utter chaos paly grew 5 babies in less than a mth (from a single polyp frag)
