    A brief update......

Several new e-tailers selling/making fixtures with improvements in both color and control. I am considering a sidestreet brand to just try out on the frag tank. I am also considering a small kit for my upstream fuge.

I still mainly hear about smaller elec bills, less heat and more control when people talk about LED's. I am waiting for them to be described as looking better than MH. The fixtures i've seen simply do not. IMO

Are your LED's bright? Maybe it is just an adjustment but all i've seen are dim....like your looking at your tank through a screen door.

    Radion on a fuge.......

I'll give this a bump as I am fixing to order some LED's. While I am still on the fence as far as appearance I am comfortable that they can supply the nutrients to maintain SPS. For these reasons I am going solderless to give me the ease of changing/adjusting colors and numbers.
With my tank being divided in half that does offer me the opportunity to build one fixture and mount it on the tank and leave the MH on the other half for visual comparisons and hopefully PAR readings.
If I am not thoroughly impressed I will go back to MH and put the LED on the frag tank.

    stay tuned......chuck

P.S. My sig is my response to my LED guy in one of todays e-mails with him.

Thanks Chris but I think i'm going to jump in and see how it goes. I'm not replacing everything at once so that helps with the cost at least til I decide if they are going to work for me.

    thanks for the offer

GREAT DECK! Very nice contribution to the cause!
Detroit's oldest large LED tank! Est'd Jan 2005, went LED June 2009. 6' wide 130g reef, Sunbrite T10 LED tubes (3xGen 3 and 1xGen 1), mostly SPS, but chalices, other LPS, and a few softies too.
