    Default Lighting for 210 gallon

I'm starting to put together a 210 gallon reef tank. I pick up the tank and stand friday. Wanted to know what you guys would recommend for lighting. It's going to be a reef tank.

    Thanks!

Hi, on my old school 210 I'm currently running 3 lumimax elite reflectors with 20k 400 watt Radiums along with 2 super actinic vho's. The lights are off the water surface 8" and I'm very pleased with the results.

    we did a group buy. so it was like $250 for a 16" 120W, $280 for a 24" 120W, and $400 for a 32" 200 W. that includes optics.

one guy lit his 180 gal with 3 16" fixtures and got PAR of 1300 an inch below the water line.

I am the guy that put 3 of the 16inch reef breeders over my 180 mixed reef, and they rock. I went with the 90 degree optics and I am glad that I did. I have no spotlighting, and I am getting great par at the sand bed. I had a 72 inch. 14 bulb HOt5 fixture on my tank befor I upgraded to the LEDs and it did a great job, the only reason I switched was because I wanted to be able to have more control of my lighting colors, and also have less heat. I still have the 72 inch fixture if your interested in it.

I just ordered a two of the 32" 200 watt reef breeders. Looking forward to seeing how they work/look.

Thats good, I am sure you will be happy with them. I cant stress enough how powerfull my leds are? So be very careful with them. Start off low, like 20% on each channel. These lights can easily bkeached corals if you ramp them uo to quickly. Let me know when you get them.

How high above the tank should I mount the lights?
