    Default Power head

I am thinking of buying Tunze Turbell 6060 power head but before spending lots of money I would like to know if anybody out there has got them. Are they good?
Lately my corals weren't very happy, they were half closed. I did a 10% water change and tested the parameters (good result) it was puzzling me why they weren't doing so well.
Today I decided for clean my 4 Aquaclear power heads. To my horror I found that one of them had a rusty shaft It went straight into the bin. I am surprised as Aquaclear is a good make. Tomorrow I am going to inspect each one of my pumps as, now, I don't trust any of the brand.

I don't know the website off hand but it's posted over at Reef Central. They are a Vortex type pump and are really neat but are supposed to be as expensive as the Tunze.

Tunze are the top tier, The best there is. #1 With a controller they are amazing.

The Vortex works with magnets....The motor being outside the tank. Picture your Mag Float with the outside part being the motor and the inside part being the propeller. The Mag float would have to be round of course but that should give you the idea.

Somewhere on here we have some of the early drawings of the Icecap powerhead (I can't locate them right off).

But I agree with the majority, Tunze are top notch, but the premium price tag they draw sends people scattering trying to hide the credit card reciepts. The Seio pumps are a good alternative at a fraction of the cost if you are not looking for all the bells and whistles of a controller, we have a pair of M1500's running now and they perform very well. Though I think another pair might be in order just for good measure.

I've just had a look at the Ice Cap power head. It looks very good, they wont take much room in the tank but I wonder how noisy it will be with the motor outside. Having my tank in the living room I don't want any annoying noise. Waiting for somebody to try one (when it comes out) and test it for me. Are the Seio as powerful as the Tunze?

The problem I have with the new Icecap design is more asthetic, who really wants warts on the sides of their tank? And the initial design appears that you will not have any real control over the direction of the flow, 90 degrees from the glass surface is all you get. The noise level of the impeller portion in the glass 'could' be quite loud, I suppose this is all speculation as everything will depend on the final design.

In direct comparison between the Seio's and Tunze, the flow patterns are almost identical (when you remove that 120 degree nozzle). They both are capable of moving a lot of water over large areas without that very laminar flow of other powerheads blasting everything in it's path.

The biggest deference in the SEIO and TUNZE is the comparative size in the larger ones the tunze is a lot smaller. And i hate the looks of power heads in a
    tank.
Iv looked at a closed Lupe but that much more pluming makes me nerves
