Are you going to go rimless and just cover the filtration areas or do you want the rimstock?
i really dont know... what do you think would be better? the tank is in my room so if i went rimless wont it smell in my room bad? because when i open up the filter part it doesnt smell good haha. and im looking to change the filter part around... i have the "biocube" protien skimmer but its not hooked up yet idk if thats a good one or not...
The biocube skimmer with the airstone is junk IMO. The HQI biocube has a chamber with light for macro which you can easily do on the stock BC29. Or just add live rock rubble like I did and take out the bioballs.
I wouldn't even put rubble back there. I think that itself is also a detritus trap. I do have 3 mangroves growing out of the back of mine right now. Other than that I have a heater, the pump, controller probes, and a media bag with carbon/GFO.
I like the rimless look of mine. I don't have the filter area covered. I don't really think my tank stinks....but it could be just me.
But if you want HQI parts, I have the rimstock (cut before the back filter area) and the covers for the back chamber. I even have a mesh screen top that fits on top of the hqi rimstock to keep your fish from becoming fish jerky.
