Default Retrofit Question?

I am going to be starting up my 35 gal hex tank again and the lighting that is currently in th hood is just not going to cut it (1 CF white bulb), I would like to keep the same hood if possible and so I am considering a retrofit to put into the hood, (backup plan of doing a pendant or something along those lines) but what I am wondering is what would be the smartest lighting choice to go with for the retro, T5, LED...etc? Let me know if you have had experience with this and what way you would suggest going.

Thanks

I think led would the simplest wat to going due to lack of space and shape of the hood.
there is a company that makes 12" T5 bulbs I think it was cv or cp??? somthing saw them at the swap last year they were for nano up grades that may be a cheeper way to go..
but if money is not a problem I'd say dimable LED's

Yeah, I think that the LED option is really the way to go based upon savings in the long run, I wonder if I can find a heat sink that will just fit right into the hood that I already have?

If you dont want to do LEDs, I used a 250 watt MH pendant and loved it. The top was open so I had a screen top made for it. Just another option
