    Default SWQD vs. Powerheads

Well the impeller on last powerhead just failed. That makes 2 in about a month. They are both Hagen 402 (50). I tried gluing the last one. Worked for about a day and then it went again. I had them both hooked to a wavemaker power strip, which I am sure caused the problem. SO the question now is do buy new impellers for the 2 of them or do I try something new an go with a SQWD on my return line? The cost should be about the same. I kind of like the idea of the SQWD but I have never had one before.

How much additional head pressure do the SQWD's create on the line? I was under the impression is was somewhat significant requiring a larger return pump to compensate for the flow loss.
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.

I agree with both responses... great side: sweet random flow, down side: you lose an overall 25-35% in the waterflow. I removed mine and saw an incredible diff. What size of SCWD??? You can always toss in some real $$$ and get a Sea Swirl... they're pricey, but worth the $$$ in the long run, IMO.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#My return pump is a Mag 7 which is being partly diverted back to the sump right now. I think by closing off the diverting line, I could hopefully pick up the 25% for the SQWD. Thanks for the opinions. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I like the idea of the SQWD because of having less equipment in the tank plus less to have plugged in.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
