Not sure if this helps any but I too was treating for bryopsis with mag dosing~the fronds are gone but in it's place is another type of algae~not even sure if it HA or what~but it's come up right where the bryopsis was. I'm still dosing with mg but so far it's done nothing to this new algae hmmmmmmmmm?
-
a lot of times normal hair algae will spring up in place of the bryopsys and consumes the nutrients that the bryopsys left behind
are you running macro algae miz if not I would add a light and some macro algae cheato works great to out compete the nuisance algae for nutrients

Well, the Tech M has another believer. It took awhile, but it's gone. In it's place is more of the red turf algae. The tangs can't keep up with it, so I'm going to have to do some more research and see what I can use to rid myself of that. Never ends. In the mean time, I'm leaving my mag up pretty high to make sure the bryopsis is gone.
Corals seemed to pale some, but two days a week of the coral frenzy along with Cyclopeze and they colored back up some.
-
<<<<<wondering where Bryopsis comes from? Is red turf algae the same as red slim algae? If so~I used chemiclean and it was gone in 2 days~hasn't come back.
-
I dont know what they put in that stuff but it works!
-
the red turf algae is more like a hair agae or also known as cotton candy algae
the red turf algae is basically just cleaning up the excess nutrients and this would be where you would want to skim a little more aggressively maby cut back on lighting if you can and food supply all the normal methods of battling nuisance algae

Thanks to Slapshot's suggestion, I'm getting a hold on that red turf algae. I bought two tuxedo urchins (royal) and they're leaving a nice white rock in their wake. I mean white. I wonder if they're eating the coralline as well. I thought I read that somewhere, that they'll eat that too.
-
Yes, the urchins will also eat the coralline too.

sounds good. I hate scraping that stuff off the back. Maybe when they're done with the turf, they'll get to the glass.
Thanks,
Tom
