ok, so I am considering buying a vortech Mp40 so I was wondering if there were different kinds of Mp40's and if so which should I buy for my up and coming 120 gallon. Any feedback would be appreciated.

It takes a long long time to build a coral reef. Step by step the reefs survive on partnerships. And the most important partners are you and I.
I would definitly be looking at the vortecs if I had a 120.
I have a vortex mp40w. By far the best purchase for my aquarium. I love the feed and reef crest modes.
so whats the difference between an mp40w and a regular mp40?

W is for wireless as has been stated. Although I run 2 in my 100 you likely could get away with 1. With the new ES controller they have several new pre programmed modes. With 2 you can sync them together wirelessly so that when you change modes on one you change both. They also operate in a way that when one is going full blast the other isn't. You can create waves and such when you have two in operation. I have four running at the store and when I put one in feed mode they all go into feed mode automatically. Vortechs are a great investment for sure. I fully endorse the product.
man, 2? lol not sure if i can do that

I'm with Chort on this one. Start off with 1 of the MP40es. You can definitely get away with the one until your corals grow out and are a bit more demanding of flow. That should give you plenty of time to save up for a second one. Good luck on your build. Keep us updated with pics!
