what kind of water movement whould i have in my 20 gal long tank. i already plan on having a large hang on the back filter on it but wasn't sure if i should get one or two power heads and what types, any sugestions?
In my 10 gal I have an aquaclear 30, seaclone 100 power skimmer, an elite mini filter with no sponge and an elite stingray 5. I have very good movement. I would Use the stingrays again for a nano in a heartbeat. They have a rotational flow director that I use to break the flow out of the AC so that it doesn't make to much direct flow on the corals.
If you have a return-pump that is really powerful, and you only have 2 outputs back into the tank, to avoid dead spots make sure you have the outputs aimed in the tank in a way that the water flow is deflecting off of the glass and creating a cross current in the tank, 1 additional powerhead that has an adjustable output can be aded as a extra measure of security.
Hey mutts for your 20 long try 3 maxi jet 600 powerheads. Also if you take an Aqua Clear 110 and modify it you can have a fuge as a filter.
Bobby which handcap kid are robbing to get those prices? lol.
Amanda,
I have a 20 gal tall and i just installed a MaxiJet 1200 and a MaxiJet 900 today and i think i've got plenty of flow LOL i just mounted one on each end of my tank and pointed them at each other .
