    Default Will the bulb work?

    Hey guys,

Looking for a little advice. Dakar has recommended using 6500 w Iwasaki 250watt MH bulbs in my unit, but he wasn't sure if the bulb would be compatible with my ballasts. I purchased a VHO/MH retrofit unit from Cool Touch Lighting aka AquariumLight.com . The ballasts' stats are:

2 x 250 Watt Metal Halide Advance Electromagnetic Ballasts

These ballasts are manufactured by Advance Transformer, the leader in Ballast Technology.

    295 input watts
    For 250Watt Metal Halide lamp
    Circuit type:CWA
    120/347 Volt input

I also had them upgrade them to a pulse start for use with high K bulbs. Can anybody tell me if the Iwasaki's will work?

    Thanks.
    75 gal w/2 250w MH & 2 110w VHO lighting

Cool Touch are an American(probe start) with the option of a pulse start upgrade... Electronic ballasts are recommended for 6500k sakis... actually mercury vapor bulbs.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

So what does that really mean? Will the pulse start ballast smoke the saki's? If so what bulb type would best suit the needs with that ballast? Don't think Pat will let me take the housing all apart to see what the manufacturer part numbers the ballasts really are.
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.

probably not,I used Advance ballasts when i was running 'sakis. The ANSI ballast code for 'sakis is H37(250w kind).Something about the 'sakis being MV lamps and not true MH.I agree with everyone else, pulse style will fire USHIO and other Euro-type bulbs no prob.BTW,those Advance ballasts are cheap and reliable.a good ballast IMO
