    Default black snail

I have a small black snail in my tank, its body is dark red and its shell is jet black. I only see it every month or so. I have looked in every book I have and there is no ID. The snail is only about 3/8 to 1/2 long and hasn't really seemed to grow.

Sounds like it might possibly be a baby Margarita snail. Can you describe the shape at least?
