Name this brown soft coral please.

Hi all. I just bought this coral from the local aquarium shop. I searched google images but can't find this one. Would someone please give me the name for this coral? Thanks

Button polyps or palys. It looks like they may be green if you place them under bluer light.

By the way I used to live across the lake from you in Wi. Now Im in Thailand for 2 or more years. I always wanted to try a salt water tank and now I can due to the reasonable prices on salt water livestock.

After reading your response I looked at my piece of coral and half are already opening. And they are GREEN. You know your stuff.

Just to be a little more exact Look up Green Implosion Paly. That be them!! Also be very cautious as to where you place those lil invasive buggers. They are very aggressive and will choke out most any coral.

Ok, here is an actual photo of my coral Before was a generic photo. Are we still agreeing they are Green Implosion ?

May be the Green Grandis, which are larger then the Implosion.

Here's a pic of my Implosions. Been trying to clear them out for almost 2yrs. Tenacious lil buggers lol

Mine has short tentacles compared to yours and the stalks are long as you can see. I would rather have a fast grower than a slow grower. I can always cut it back. It is my first coral ever so that also is in it's favor. Thanks

They were my first also. Here's some good advice. Keep them well away from other corals. They are very invasive and will irritate anything in their path. When crowded they release themselves, picked up by the flow and begin anew. I've even had them survive in my lil fuge (no idea how they got in there) under a 13" 18w CF.
bottom line is, watch them closely

As well, be careful handling any palys with bare hands, face, eyes, mouth. Do a search on palytoxins / poisoning... you'll see what I mean. Enjoy and as stated, keep them under control.
