Got these things popping up everywhere. Even hitching rides on my snails.

Definitely a vermitid snail. They basically cast a slime "web" out and catch stuff, then pull it back it and eat it. The bigger ones are pretty cool to watch, but they can irritate your corals if they get out of hand. I had a post / picture of a big one that I had on here somewhere. I just moved him out of the way of the corals, near the flow and he caught and ate stuff all the time.
I've heard that you can put a spot of super glue on the top to close them up and kill them if they are small. I've not personally tried that myself.
Ok I think you both are wrong, sorry. This is NOT web like. They are one single fuzzy string. Coming directly out of whatever it's attached to. There is no lil spike type unit that it comes out of. I've got plenty of Vermitid snails and these are not them.
When touched these *strings* will do a jerky type movement and retract. But there is nothing visible that they go into.
Also not a spaghetti worm as these are single and not bunched.
Nope totally white. They've attached themselves to anything. My clam, turbo snail and other snails, surface skimmer, rock and sand bed. They are not choosy
